Letting others know where you are when out on appointments with clients is an important real estate safety tip.
Google Maps, the popular mapping service, has announced that it has added real-time location sharing. You can allow peers or family to keep tabs on your whereabouts during your workday, along with your estimated time of arrivals to appointments.
To activate, open the side menu or tap the blue dot that shows where you are on the map. Then press “share location” and select who you want to share your location with and for how long, anywhere from 15 minutes to 3 days. Or, you can opt to share your location for an unlimited time with one of your Google contacts.
Google Maps will share a link to your chosen contacts via your preferred messaging app. They can then load Google Maps to keep tabs on your location.
You’ll know when you’re sharing your location with someone via an icon above the compass on the map.
The feature is available on Android, iOS, and mobile or desktop web browsers.
Google Maps also recently added the ability to highlight where you parked your car.
