In all three metro areas, the average combined cost of a wedding and a down payment is less than $65,000, compared with the national average of more than $109,000, according to the study.
Wedding and down payment costs vary widely across the country. Redfin calculated down payment amounts in 25 of the largest metro areas (assuming a 20% down payment on a median list price home in the area), and then paired it against metro-level and national data on average wedding costs. The average wedding cost—including an engagement ring, ceremony and reception, and honeymoon—nationwide in 2018 was $38,700, according to WeddingWire.
